Inquiring into Plants

The Blazing Marshmallows have been finding seeds in nature and took the initiative to plant them around ISM. From this, a class discussion on planting emerged and we decided to plant our own plants in pots. With the help of their teacher, the Blazing Marshmallows gathered the needed supplies and transformed our outside space into a learning space dedicated to our plant experiments. The students created a Plants Agreement and began our plant journey today. Our pictures have captions that explain each step of the process from today!

We are talking about how we are going to plant our plants. We get to plant plants because we want to. During our meeting, we decided we need to water our plants everyday, how much dirt we need on top of the seeds, and the Blazing Marshmallows need to take care of their own plants.
We were putting soil in our pots.
We're trying to get soil and put it in the bucket.
Julia suggested to make a line so we all got a turn and there was no pushing.
We are putting dirt in the pots and cups.
The Blazing Marshmallows are planting pepper seeds in this pot.
This is the soil with the pepper seeds in it. We made a hole to put the seeds and then we covered it up.
One of our classmates is marking the data. We are keeping track of when we water the plants.
The class was watering the plants.
The board is for us to keep track of when we water our plants and our class agreements about the plants. We will also use the sticky notes to write down observations.
