Shapes can be...

On Wednesday, the Blazing Marshmallows read the book, Wednesday by Anne Bertier. While reading this story, each student was using their mathematical thinking brain to find the math within the story!

We discovered Anne Bertier told the story through shapes and we learned shapes make up other things! From this, we took on the challenge of creating something new out shapes. Each child started with a square and a circle. From there, everyone got to cut their shapes into other shapes in order to create an image. Check out our video that shows our drawings and ask us what the story is behind our artwork!

Here are some questions you can ask your child while watching our movie or rereading the book!
What shapes do you see?
How can you prove that shape is what you labeled it as (Attributes)?
What shapes did you use to create other shapes (composite shapes)?
