Math Tools Scavenger Hunt

The Blazing Marshmallows found so many math tools inside the classroom. We took some time to explore and figure out what we can use them all for. The class discovered that the math tools have many uses depending on the math problem at hand and the learner who is using them. Here are few tools we explored and the ideas we came up with.

You can count the sides of these pieces.

We can sort the bears into colors and were making families with them. 

We were connecting the shapes together to make a trail. We can also build a path by colors.

She was building with shapes.
She might have been building a big city.

I was building a really long stick. I was building a ten. 

I was using the dots to make patterns.

I used many blocks to make a tower.
The second time worked. 

We think he was making chains.
We think he was going to use this to measure the structure.

We were doing Domino Bowling.
